Privacy Policy — I'm Dead, What's Next?

The short version

Without an account, your binder entries stay in your browser on your device. With an optional free account, your binder is also backed up to our server. Family sharing lets you choose which sections another person can access and when. Website measurement and payment processing are described below.

What we collect

No account? Nothing you write is sent anywhere. Your binder stays in your own browser, on your own device, and no server receives it.

With an optional account: we store your email address, a securely hashed password, the contents of your binder, and account and plan information. If you use family sharing, we also store the recipient's email address, your sharing settings, and access-request information needed to operate that feature.

If you buy a plan: Stripe processes your payment. We send Stripe your account email and an internal account identifier, and store Stripe customer and subscription identifiers and your plan status so the app can provide your paid features. Card details are entered with Stripe, not in your binder.

If you asked us to email you the checklist: we store the email address you typed and where you came from, and nothing else. We use it to send you the checklist and occasional tips on getting your affairs in order — a few emails a year, never more. Every one of them has an unsubscribe link, and we never sell or share the list. We only add you if you ticked the box; reading the guide alone never signs you up for anything. To be removed at any time, email us and we will delete the address.

If you arrived from an advert: we run adverts on Google, and Google’s measurement tag records that your visit came from one, and whether you went on to create an account. That tells us which adverts are worth paying for. It is a count of visits and signups — nothing you write in your binder is ever included, with or without an account. If you would rather not be counted, any browser setting or extension that blocks advertising cookies will stop it, and the app works exactly the same either way.

Where your information lives

All information you enter is stored locally on your own device. If you create an account, an encrypted-in-transit copy of your binder is also stored on our secure server so you can restore it on any device. If you use the "Save a backup" feature, that backup is a file saved wherever you choose — it is yours alone. To delete your account and cloud data, email us and we will remove it.

What we share

Your selected binder sections are available to the people you authorize under your sharing settings. Service providers process information needed to host the app, store account data, deliver emails, and handle payments. Google measurement is described above. Information you print or export is under your control.

Children

This app is intended for adults planning their affairs and does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Adults may include information about their dependents in their own binder.

Your choices

You can use the local binder without creating an account. Creating an account enables cloud backup. Review or revoke family sharing in the app, and use your account's billing controls to manage a paid subscription. For account and cloud-data deletion, contact us below. Canceling billing does not itself delete your binder.
